President's Message

Soror President - Stephanie Cooper

Greetings Sorors and Guests,

San Jose Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. welcomes you to our website! I bring greetings to you on behalf of the over 60 members of the San Jose Alumnae Chapter. We are one of the over 90 chapters in the Fabulous Farwest Region and home to the Farwest Regional Director, Soror LaVerne Gray Davis. The purpose of this website is to keep you well informed of the Chapter programs and events.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913 by 22 collegiate women at Howard University. The Sorority is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs to local communities and throughout the world. A sisterhood of more than 250,000 predominately Black college educated women, the Sorority currently has over 900 chapters located in the United States, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Republic of Korea. We continue to strengthen communities through "One Mission, One Sisterhood: Empowering Communities Through Committed Service."

San Jose Alumnae Chapter was chartered in 1970, by women with the same vision and purpose as the Sorority's Founders. Driven by that purpose, sorors of the San Jose Alumnae Chapter have continued to provide public service to the Silicon Valley area, over the years, through programs such as book drives, tutorial programs, walk-a-thons, Toys-for-tots and Images. These programs fall under the Sorority's Five Point Program Thrust:

Economic Development * Educational Development * International Awareness & Involvement * Physical & Mental Health * Political Awareness & Involvement

As you navigate through our website, you will find additional information on the Chapter's programs, history, members, events and photos. There are also links to the National website as well as Regional website.

With Sisterly Love,
Stephanie M. Cooper, President
